Dr. Doris Jeanette Interviews Director of Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai

Lisa Merton and her partner Alan Dater make films that create social change by revealing stories that show the integral connections among us all and the earth we share.

I met Alan Dater at the showing of Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai during the Philadelphia Film Fest. And later interviewed his co-director Lisa Merton on Live at the Edge internet radio show. They co-produced and co- directed this amazing film, Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai. Wangari Maathai is a noble peace prize winner and a very powerful woman who stood up to a dictator. This is a fascinating interview with Lisa Merton about an incredible woman Wangari Maathai.

I would like everyone in the world to see this film. We need to know we can take action and stand up to nonsense when we see it in our communities. Help us get this film on Native Indian reservations and in impoverished communities across the world.
